Avera Queen of Peace Volunteering
Applications can be obtained from the Volunteer Office or by calling 605-995-2466
Becoming a Volunteer
If you are interested in becoming an Avera Queen of Peace volunteer, start by completing an application for volunteer services. The form is helpful in establishing skills and gives legality to your status as a volunteer.
An interview is conducted by the Director of Volunteer Services. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you, your interests, expectations, motivations, skills and availability. At the same time, you have the opportunity to become acquainted with the volunteer department and to ask any questions you may have about the program or Avera Queen of Peace.
Assignments of volunteers are made through the volunteer office, with consideration given to your interests and skills and the needs of the hospital. After a general orientation, your training will be on-the-job training specific to your position. You will be supervised by an experienced volunteer or staff member, as appropriate. The length of training will depend on the assignment and your comfort with the position. You will not be asked to work an assigned area alone until you feel comfortable doing so.
To find out more about the program and the areas where volunteers serve and are needed, go to Volunteer Opportunities.
If you are interested in volunteering at Avera Queen of Peace, please contact Kathy Hartung Stiles at 605-995-2466 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
